I'm using this forum branch because my question is not tied to any specific vehicle.

Has anybody encountered regulatory issues with having a bullbar on a vehicle you have taken to another juristiction?
I don't want this to become an ethical argument about having a bulbar or not.

I'm talking about bullbars/nudgebars that are well engineered and legal in your home country/state when you go to another.

So far I know about New Zealand which will make you remove the bar as temporary import vehicles have to be inspected to comply with local roadworthy rules (they see the bar as a hazard to pedestrians).

Europe seems to be okay if you're a temporary visitor.

I was advised by Alan Hipman(world traveler from Colombia) that it is illegal in Colombia also. Police may harass traveler for bribes. His advise was to not use it or if you do want to use it for winching, use one that is as similar as possible to factory looking one and make sure it does not have a bull bar. On another note, Dan Grec (The Road Chose Me) thought that after market bumpers with bull bars should be okay unless they are stringer bumpers or shorties. Make them look as close as possible to the original bumper. I have a 4runner. I am in a dilemma too. Added wt is an issue that every experienced overlanders has advised me to keep vehicle as light as possible. I was advised that a similar bumper should be okay. For sure it is not legal in Columbia and NZ.
