We are Reni and Marcel, a Swiss couple who is currently on a road trip around the world.

We are very happy to be part of the overlanding family. Thanks to the forum we found very useful information for our planning and we hope to help others with our experiences too.

Three months ago we shipped our Toyota LandCruiser camper from Australia to South Korea (RoRo). We enjoyed South Korea a lot but unfortunately today is our last day already. But we are also ready for new adventures. After a 3 months road trip in fascinating South Korea we are ready to head over to Vladivostok in Russia. The plan is to overland from Russia to Mongolia back to Russia and all the way to Europe. Is anyone planning something similar? Then please send us a message. We'd love to meet other overlanders.

We are on the road with our Toyota LandCruiser that we bought in Australia about 2 years ago. In Australia we spent more than 1.5 years exploring Australia along the coast, through the middle and we spent a lot of time off the beaten tracks. If you want to read more about our adventures check out our travel blog www.swissnomads.com (English) and www.swissnomads.ch (German)

Cheers & safe travels

hi Reni and Marcel awesome trip and i love the length!!! are you planning to visit "the Stans" after Mongolia, it is a great diversion on way back west across Russia. If not i highly recommend you visit Ulan-Ude on Lake Baikal after Mongolia, visited it on Trans-Siberia last year and was incredible. Silly paperwork question i am battling with did you need a Carnet for Russia? thanks dean

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the message and tips. For this time we only visit Russia and Mongolia. No time for the Stans this time unfortunately. Maybe next time. We just arrived at Lake Baikal and will spend a few days around Irkutsk, Lake Baikal and Ulan Ude before heding into Mongolia. In Ulan Ude we have visited the Datsan. Amazing place.
For Russia you don't need a carnet. So far we didn't have one because we only visited countries where it's not neccesary.

Cheers from Sibiria, Marcel
