Hello!

I am glad to find you and be part of the Overland Sphere! I'm writing from Ethiopia right now during my adventure "mad about Africa". I am already riding 2.5 years all around Africa on a twenty-year-old Honda XR 250, having covered 80,000 km in 34 countries.

My previous adventure was in 14 Asian countries (as far as India and Central Asia), again on an XR 250, 2 years and 2.5 months, 73,000 km.

Happy travels!

@madnomad Welcome to the forum...

Good luck with the trip, we are just in Egypt having driven North from Cape town.. which way are you going?

Let us know you need any info on the border heading north...

We creating a database of lots overlanding info, from Insurance, Visa and border crossings... once it publically live for editing it would be great if you could add any info you have :-) Overlanding Association

Safe travels

Well, actually that's how I found you! I was looking for information about the route north. Your posts are very detailed and helpful! I would like to go from Port Sudan to Aqaba but it seems that boat is not working anymore... Through Egypt I found out that the cheapest way to reach Europe is with Neptune Lines (to Greece) but entering and exiting Egypt is expensive anyway and travelling there is restricted now, so I will not see much. I'm thinking that maybe it will be cheaper just to fly my bike from Ethiopia to Greece or somewhere. Still researching my options...

I collected a lot of info about visas and border crossings in Africa at:

Of course, you are free to use whatever you want from there!
