From Malaysia to Africa

Hi overlandsphere community!

Two friends and I are in the early stages of planning a road trip from Malaysia to South Africa. Ideally we would like to go through the Middle East to Egypt and then down east Africa. Obviously that's going to be harder than it sounds. We would appreciate any advice on dangerous routes, alternatives, and whether it's even possible. Thank you.

generally East Africa is a well travelled route, you won't really find too many problems, there is sporadic border closures between Sudan and Ethiopia, and local tensions.. But apart from that you should not expect too many problems.

What sort of route are you looking out through the Middle East?
