Mileage at the beginning of our trip (June 2015): 110.000mi (177.000km)
Mileage when handing over the car (May 2017): approx. 137.000mi (220.000km)
2 Seats (one front-seat can be turned 180 degrees)
Measerments (meters): 4,88m long x 1,99m wide x 2,56m high
After an adventurous journey through the americas, we (David & Gabi from Austria) have to sell our beloved home on four wheels. Our van is ready for new adventures around May 2017 in Uruguay/Argentina/Brasil. Apart from some minor issues (see detailed list) the bus works really great and has taken us safely to many beautiful places.
The high roof offers enough space inside for a person to cook comfortably while standing. At the same time another person can relax on the front-seat, which can be turned around 180 degrees or take a nap on the bed. Even when you spend most of your time outside, having enough space inside has been beneficial during bad weather, in cities or during a mosquito-invasion. Despite of the high roof, the van can still be shipped inside a container (high-cube).
Inside the van you will find everything you need for a pleasant camperlife for two. (comfortable double size bed, fully equiped kitchen, lots of storage, independent power supply via solarpanels...)
Another positive feature of the vehicle is, that it doesn't look like a campervan from the first sight, but rather like a normal commercial vehicle. (Often people tried to make us stop, because they thought we were a taxi-van). Also because of this, we were able to spend the night in cities for example without attracting too much attention. In addition some tiny rusty spots and dents on the body let the van look of lesser value, which might keep thiefs at distance
;-)
An interesting feature for surfers (or those who wanna learn it) is the compartment for surfboards inside the car. In there fit up to 3 (without fins possibly 4) surfboards up to 7'4“ / 220cm. (But of course you can put in there whatever you like)
A word on the front-wheel-drive: We´ve been happy with the off-road capabilities of our van! There almost hasn´t been a single place we couldn´t get to, because we didn´t have a four-wheel drive (on 35.000km / 22.000mi from USA to Chile). We were surprised to see what kind of terrain the van could handle.
But of course there are limits: deep sand or mud, extremly steep gravel roads or crossings of deep riverbeds (more than 2'). So if you can´t go without this kind of off-road-adventures, you better get yourself a 4x4.
