Hi everyone, glad to be here. My wife and I think we’re a little bit crazy because we’ve just bought a Hilux 4x4 Dakkar and are going to fit it out for overlanding around Southern Africa. We’re both retired (I’m now 74) and live in Australia but we’ll spent about 4 months per year in South Africa. We both originated in Rhodesia. The vehicle will be stored in SA. Crazy? Yeah. But excited.
soo…. We are at the very start of our journey. My first question is-can anyone recommend a great insurance broker we can use the get the vehicle insured? Any pointer would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like an exciting trip you are planning. Did you buy in Australia or South Africa? If South Africa, how hard is it to do as a foreigner? Or if you are shipping from Australia, what are the issues 'importing' it as you will be keeping it there long-term?

I'm looking to do an Africa trip by car but have little experience with that part of the world. Most of my experience is in the Americas, India and a little bit of Asia.

Hi Tony, have you got any quotes for shipping to South Africa? I am in Melbourne and looking to ship over a Landcruiser troopy and wanted to get a ballpark idea before I started the process of buying one and doing it up.
