Latest update - Safety & security section and summary – the British government cannot provide consular assistance, including any form of assisted departure, to British nationals in Libya; local security situations remain fragile; regular, semi-regular and irregular detention of foreign nationals occurs regularly in all parts of Libya; Chad and Niger have closed their borders with Libya on several occasions in 2017 without warning, in response to the activity of armed groups in the area; Tunisian border crossings are often also inaccessible; Terrorism section – on 4 October 2017, at least 4 civilians were killed and many wounded in a Daesh suicide bomb attack in Misrata
