Hi All,

I just starting my planning for a trip to South America, im currently looking at vehicles, and torn between a 4x4 or a larger van like a sprinter.

Is a 4x4 required in South America or do you think i could get away with a 2wd sprinter?

Hi Welcome to the forum, generally you do not need 4x4 in South America, unless you are planning to go to places where its required.

But overall you will be able to 90% with two wheel drive, having a van over a 4x4 will give you more flexibilty for camping etc,
